When looking for investments we often find ourselves looking at traditional ventures such as property, stocks and shares or even traditional bonds/isa’s.
When asked about investing in a cemetery plot investment – the initial reaction is What!!!!
Slightly unusual you may say but the more you think about it, the more you realise Cemetery plots are a highly valued investment that will only grow in importance.
Throughout history the price of burial space has never gone down and the growth of this asset is more reliable than any other asset class that has seen both ups and downs subject to economical factors.
With the increasing price on land and the ageing population it is surely a good idea to invest in burial plots. Prices are sure to rise and could lead to a lucrative investment.
At the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, they reuse old graves. Campaigners say this could be the solution to a nationwide shortage of burial space.
Hundreds of families were contacted about private graves which had not been used for more than 75 years, and which were known to have depth for at least two more burials.
The greatest focus is on London, but the problem is nationwide. Cemeteries have been expanded in Leeds; there are problems in Surrey and Lincolnshire; in Rhyl it is estimated the cemetery could be full within 18 months.
While plots are expensive to purchase, they often appreciate in value and are seen as an attractive asset in your investment portfolio. In addition to providing personal security in the event of tragedy, watching the market and selling your lot at the right time you can earn a sizeable return on your investment while fulfilling an important role in society.
